In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to give you a glimpse of the amazing voices of iHeart. This whole month single parents have been building a gigantic gratitude list.
Here are some of their voices answering the question, Today I am Grateful for…
From JustPeachy
- 2 sons that serenaded me all day with random outbreaks of “so happy together”
- how our family pulls together to do tasks and accomplish out goals, even if only to try and get the laundry done, house cleaned, Halloween stuff put away, etc. so we can try to have an organized week – laughing & joking all the way
- friends that love my children equally to how much they love me, and support us all in the ways that matter
- clients that send me a “thanks for the help” note on the weekend, recognizing that I truly want them to succeed and so did go a bit above & beyond where our contract calls for
- a job sufficient to meet our needs, and to allow me to pay for repairs to this house.
From Steve
1). Hot water ( I love my morning showers )
2). Our health ( we rarely even catch a cold )
3). Those few moments in the morning cuddling Am before starting our day
4). My car ( thats warming up as I type )
5). Cameras ( I was just looking around and realized how many awesome memories I have hanging around the house )
From Katherine, a.k.a. Solo dot Mom
*
that Jas is only having minor surgery on Tuesday (to patch the place where the incarcerated hernia used to be) instead of the emergency surgery a few weeks ago.
*
that Kass is doing well in school, with friends and “working on” her overly dramatic reactions to her brother’s teasing.
*
that I have a wonderful family from my brother and my sister, their spouses as well as my nieces, my aunts, and uncles.
*
that I have a wonderful job that I thoroughly enjoy and for the people I work with that I sincerely consider like family.
and lastly for this reply… that i have a single parent community like I-heart!![]()
From Scott
My body – The legs & arms & everything all work really well! Wow – what a wonderful machine to guide around this world.
My kids – God let me take stewardship of 5 bright young souls. What a serious responsibility, but what incredible joy results from it. May I someday be even one-half the father I’m capable of being. That would, I think, be enough.
Freedom – Bombs don’t go off in my neighborhood. I’m not afraid of the sound of gunshots. I choose where I work and where I play, and I even get to badmouth my own government without any fear of retribution. God bless America.
The goodness of people – In my society it’s polite to smile at strangers as you pass. Co-workers greet me when I arrive. If my kid gets lost, it’s almost a certainty that someone will help him. People took the time to create and maintain this site as a gift to others. Mankind is innately Good and I appreciate that very much.
The Internet – I can learn anything I want to learn, hear anything I want to hear, and communicate with literally millions of people at the speed of light. Wow. 20 years ago this was a sci-fi story. 60 years ago this was pure fantasy. 100 years ago nobody could have even conceived of the things we take for granted every day. Awesome.
And lastly, from LauraKim, (she lives in South Africa..No Thanksgiving dinner, but still tons of reasons to be grateful):
1. My awesome awesome friends! Who spent the day with me drinking cheap wine and talking nonsense!
2. My mom – who joined us today after the cheap wine had hit us all and we were really talking nonsense! She gave us an “Its great to be South African” speech inspired by Obama!
3. Braais (or barbeques) – they are such no mess no fuss meals!
4. For the weather – even tho its rainy and miserable its still very cool
5. For my evening cup of tea
6. And lastly just for LIFE! For simple being here in the moment right now! Its pretty awesome!
There are so many more great gratitude lists, so go here and read them. I wish you all the very warmest Thanksgiving!
Oh yeah, and I can’t leave without sharing what I’m grateful for:
1. Lucca’s health, laughter, goofiness, funk, charm, and dancemoves
2. Man in Kentucky. I am the LUCKIEST girl in the word. He is one incredible human being, and one sexy stud bull.
3. Mommo and Babbo, my parents, who have shared with me the roof over their heads and the food on the table….and lots of wine.
4. Google, Skype, Twitter and the Blogosphere…mostly Skype though. Makes a long distance love seem so much closer ;)
5. The exciting things in store for iHeart, Single Parent Magazine, Single Parent Night Out Events
6. The way I’ve grown spiritually in the last 6 months. (Thank you Man in Kentucky for opening me up and encouraging me in this way).
