La La Loveland Highlights

You all ready for some MiO highlights!?

I feel like I’ve taken a vacation to Loveland.

I haven’t left the state of Oregon, but the world feels like an entirely different place sharing it with MiO.  I’m making every effort to be a good host and show him all the marvels of this region of the country and I’m proud of us, because despite the temptation to spend all hours that Lucca is in daycare wrapped half-naked in eachother’s arms, we’ve gotten out and about quite a bit…visiting the coast, the gorge, the mountains, and  the high desert of central oregon.  (I love the high-desert. It reminds me of New Mexico, where we first met, and where he was born).

I didn’t think it was possible for my time with MiO here to top the time I spent with him in England. But the days we spend together just keep getting better… and the closer we get to experiencing real life with one another (i.e. doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, work days) the more fun I seem to find.

Here are a few of the highlights from the past week. (It also is a pretty good list of things to do and visit in Oregon, and/or ways to fall deeper in love with your significant other):

  • Taking Lucca to Canon Beach
  • Going out on a Saturday night date downtown
  • Stumptown coffee and church Sunday morning, taking communion together
  • Big family dinner Sunday evening with my sister and my grandma (who came to meet my Man even though she has shingles really bad, so hard to be old!)
  • Long drive to Central Oregon listening to sappy stuff like this:

  • Smith Rock: First lesson in climbing outside, my Man trusting me to belay him, feeling the most primal fear (falling from very high places) and climbing the rock anyway.
  • The refreshing  beer(s) at the Dechutes Brewery  in Bend after.
  • Spending the night in our zero- star motel room and starting the next morning with a delicious micro-brew beer and chocolate in bed.
  • Cuddling in eachother’s arms, making somewhat of an effort to understand the Bailout Plan, watching Good Morning America at 6am with a giddy buzz
  • A satisfying nap on a Tuesday afternoon
  • A crazy crossfit work out at the park
  • Working together with our laptops side by side
  • Busting open a bottle of champagne midday on a Thursday just because we rockKeep Pouring Baby
  • Really enjoying a make-out session at the art gallery
  • Taking Lucca to his first dentist appointment and hearing the nurse calling someone “Daddy” (it only freaked MiO out a little bit)
  • Tucking Lucca into bed and reading him Dr. Seuss
  • Ending the night in bed with MiO and snuggling into his arms watching web videos like this one  (We think it is hilarious, even though we aren’t jewish, and it definetely has a very important message) :
  • Dreaming about life together in Lexington, KY– our friends, our home, little entrepreneurial endeavors, potential tatoos.
  •

Tonight we plan on getting a take-n-bake pizza,  hanging out with Lucca, and watching the debates.

I’m not going to lie, its really fun sharing life with MiO.
