This is the after party: 2 weeks of the Fat Flash Plan! “The Breakthrough Weight Loss Diet That: Melts fat from his, waist and thighs in just two weeks and reshapes your body while detoxifying your system.”
I’m beginning it tomorrow.
Guess what I get to look forward to?
14 days of protein and vegetables and all the good kinds of oils you never learned about in the food pyramid. No sugar. No flour. No cigarettes. No….oh my god….no alcohol! (No coffee either, technically, but there is noooooooo way that is going work).
Today, I did the planning, the self-pep talk and the Whole Foods shopping.
I’ve had the book since January, read it, got psyched for the return of the pre-baby body, attempted it once, and failed miserably:
I made it a week, felt amazing, and then one pretty little pastry did me in. I thought I was strong enough to handle it and it was just so pretty- pink frosting tempting me like little vixon. One pastry turned to two, turned to twenty. I woke up in a blur of sugar and flour and said, “Where’s the alcohol? F-it! This sucks!”
This time is going to be d-i-f-f-e-r-e-n-t. I know better now, I can’t cheat, not even a smidgen. And I just spent over a hundred precious buckaroos on all the Fat Flushing necessities and so I’ll be damned if that hard earned cash gets flushed down the toilet. (It will go down the toilet but only through me first!)
I’ve cleared out the pantry of Lucky Charms, Twizzlers and red wine and made room for a glorious shelf of herbal supplements. Here is the starting line up: Black Current Omega-3 GLA; Organic High-Lignan Flaxseed Oil; Super Milk Thistle with Dandelion Root Extract; Psyllium Husk; and Country Life’s Lipotropic Formulation with Vitamin B-6, Choline, L-Carnitine L-Arginine, and a whole bunch of other L-something-or-others.
I’m rrrrrrready! I’m psyched! I already feel 10lbs svelter. (Kinda like feeling like you’ve already worked out when all you’ve done is put on a sports bra and laced your tennis shoes).
The truth is, I love the planning stage– It always feels like I’ve gotten a new lease on life and the sun is shining brighter. It’s days 2-14 that succccck and I wonder what the hell was I ever thinking.
This time though, I’m prepared for that resistance to come up and to mentally breakdown (lack of glucose to the brain will do that).
Here is what I’m planning to do to cope when the inner pissed- off momma wants to raid all of Lucca’s snacks:
- journal, a.k.a. blog– be prepared
- light a candle and stick my finger in the flame
- have a cigarette dammit!
- send a nasty email off to Ann Louise Gittleman, author of the Fat Flush Plan
- curl up in a ball and cry, and ask the gods take care of my son and just let me sleep until I can have my Lucky Charms again
- make crazy-woman vlogs
- pace back and forth and curse like a sailor
Sound like fun?!! Who is with me?
pppppplease some one do this with me.

Ohhhhhh how I want to take off this fat suit! Remember those commercials (I believe it was Pepsi) when a celebrity would unzip their entire body and out would come Ozzy? Anyway I was a size 2 for maybe 15 years, had my son, lost most of the weight got down to a 4, they my marriage went to $#it and I went up and up and up. I’m back to the weight I was when I gave birth.
My library has 3 of these books the one you mentioned, a cookbook and a recipe book. I’ll look at them… but no promises, I’m not so sure I could give up caffeine again.
Be careful.
When Dooce did it she had to go to the doctor. Not good to immediately strip your body of everything it’s used to. Just sayin’ … do the flush in moderation. But good luck!!!
No cigarettes? I don’t know if I can live without my 2 nightly smokes. But I will commit to running 3 miles a day every day for the next 2 weeks and cutting my calories to <1200 a day……you will at least know I am in 1/2 your misery. Deal?
I will start tomorrow too……
Good luck. Im a wimp when it comes to this stuff…but I’ll be thinking of ya!
Good luck! I’d do it with you, but I’ve been doing the South Beach diet for about a month now, and even with some cheating here and there, I’ve still managed to lose 11 pounds!
Days 2-14 are always tough, but it seriously gets so much better after that!
Good luck! And doing it with you? Um…I’ll be with you in spirit?
Alaina- will do! My sense of survival is much greater than my sense of commitment to the plan. Promise I will go easy on my self!
Mary Mary- You rock . A smoker and a runner. I love you!
Lauren- 11 lbs? you are my idol. Tell me, how did you survive days 2-14 and how long is the dang diet?
Steph- With me in spirit is probably a smart place to be…this is going to get crazy…:)

You are freaking hilarious, woman! Good luck. I can’t join you just yet, but I know I gotta shed some lbs, so I’m almost there.
Well, the first two weeks are fairly restrictive, but you can still eat quite a bit of good stuff, which is probably how I survived. After the first phase (the first 2 weeks), the second phase starts where you slowly bring foods back into your diet (like bread and fruit). The second phase lasts until you reach your goal weight, and then you start phase 3, which is how you’re supposed to eat for the rest of your life.
It’s so easy to do, but I’ve started cheating more and more for some reason, so I need to stop before I begin that horrible downward spiral and end up where I started!
If you’re interested, I could send you the book.
2 days in…how is it going?
SingleWorkingMommy- I’ll be here to support you whenever you ar e ready! Not sure if it’s a good weight loss diet (haven’t gotten on the scale yet), but I’m feeling great!
Lauren- Cheating is okay in stage 3, I bet
Keeps you sane. Thanks so much for offering to send the book! Maybe we can do a swap after I complete this one. I wonder if they are similiar?
Simon- Suprisingly great!!! (Check back with me in another day or two and I hope I feel the same).
I am on day 2 of the Fat Flush Plan!! Need to keep going, my birthday is in 3 weeks… what a motivation it is to look great in those pictures… whoever is in the same boat. Keep Writing Updates! There’s something very comforting about knowing that other people are experiencing this too!!
Cheers to Everyone!

Started on Monday, I thought I was coming off crack or something the first three days. I couldn’t believe how much I was dependant on sugar to keep me going throughout the day…now, Day 5, I feel a lot better. I am much less bloated, finally able to work out and mainly just going to keep going to see if this diet is finally going to help reach my goal of losing 40 pounds…by the way, i was 185 and size 12…havent weighed in yet, but i’ll let you know!
So how did it go? I see that I am sending this a little late but I have a client who has done the Fat Flush, her only cheat was perhaps half a bagel and a glass of wine, but she had amazing results along with working out with me twice a week. Not only did she shrink but the weight went away in the best places. I am currently pregnant and will be trying it once my baby is born.
