Did you catch it?
The first episode of “Must Love Kids” aired tonight on TLC.
I got twitter messages all evening from the single momma blogosphere reminding me to watch, so I invited my best single momma friend to come over and join the prime-time party. We popped a take-in-bake pizza in the oven, and opened up a bottle of red wine. While the boys ran circles around each other, we delightfully tuned into the reality of three strong, self-assured, and beautiful single mommas who are jumping back in the dating game and looking for love.
All in all, the issues and highlights the show brought up weren’t so different than the dating stories and conversation that iHeart members share with each other every night, but that is a good thing! We’ve known the world is full of sexy, successful, happy and healthy single moms, because of all the awesome members we’ve met on the iheart social network….but what is really cool is that more of the world will get to see single moms in this light too. (Which is very refreshing after the hate mail directed towards all single mothers MsSingleMama and I received yesterday. There are some real loonies out there!)
TLC’s newest show is evidence that indeed single mother stereotype’s are changing, and that the zeitgeist in American culture is shifting.
My prediction: Expect to see more single parents in the news, in the media, and in the forefront of trends, because no one knows how to embrace life like a single parent knows how to embrace life…and that is sexy.

“Hate mail”? You guys get “hate mail”? What on earth about?
I know, can you believe it? Proof that some people really have nothing better to do than try to make others feel bad. Lame-O!
The sad fellow who “hate-mailed” us was certain single mothers were the root of all evil and the cause of moral degradation in our country. He had a very round about argument to prove it that left me feeling less mad and more just sorry for him.
But life is too short to give these few nutso’s much attention and energy… so I’m going to shut-up now
And to think the tag lines used to read “Must love Dogs”… Mine is…”Must desire ready made family and endless laundry”…LOL
I think all the “hate mail” stems from ignorance. I adore single moms for many reasons…the main one being I relate to them more than any other social group (situationally) . As for dating them…There is nothing more attractive than being “wanted” versus “needed”. Maybe I’ll blog more on that sometime.
People who point at others first need to clean there own house up. Then they can go around up those of others.
The DVR is set to record the replay on Monday and all future episodes…I love to see how Hollywood depicts everyday life…even if it is from a woman’s perspective.
