My foray into the world of online dating begins with a bottle of Cab-Sav..
One night after a few glasses of red wine and an hour of Match.com commercials, i was ready to take a peek into the world of online dating. I didn’t know about being ready for an actual date with an internet stranger (so old fashioned, i know!), but I was ready to at least entertain a little of my curiosity and “look.” (Remember: Its okay to look! -Thanks Dr. Phill!!)
Well, I “looked” and then wanted to “wink” and then there I was 11:30pm filling out my own profile. And for any who have filled out a dating profile you know that once you start you are as good as committed because you’ve just invested all night to the processes of finding the right words to describe your soul. =). I’m not sure filling out a dating profile on a whim is something I recommend doing, but there are those (Rachel, thank you!) who think it has its upsides.
After I had completely divulged every hope, dream, turn-on, and turn-off that I could think of, and chose a picture of myself that was cute but not too cute (I want a man to be pleasantly surprised by my attractiveness not disapointed that the real thing didn’t measure up to a virtual promise!) my profile was posted. I could “wink” now freely and promiscuously. Problem was, I can’t say I was that impressed with the ’selection.’ (But I’ve always been a big dreamer and I think I was almost expecting to meet Clive Owen on there =). I did the “3-days free” trial and then pulled my profile. So much work for nothing! I know. My fault, but I guess deep down I wasn’t ready…and it wasn’t worth the cash. I decided I would spend the $50 and take myself out to a nice dinner…. and maybe flirt with the waiter
Sometimes they are pretty cute!
